The Honeymoon's Over?

I'm hungry. Again. Eleven days until my first fill - yeah!

Now, me saying I'm hungry is relative because I think I'm still getting much fuller much more quickly than before the band. I'm just eating more than I was in the days after surgery - which is understandable.

Last night wasn't great. It was a combination of just wanting to eat in the evening and I was actually hungry and having a hard time getting full. In my quest for validation (and/or a cyber slap on the hand), I was reading on Lapband Talk. It sounds like during this in-between time, I should do my best but eat until I am full so I can heal? Is that just rationalizing at its finest or actual truth?

I've got a call into our program's dietitian to check on a few things and I'll talk to her about this.

I think I'm doing pretty well but the scale just keeps bouncing. I haven't seen the 277 low again and have been stuck in the low 280s. I'm blaming this on my body adjusting because heaven knows I'm eating way less than I was before.

And - I had tuna salad for lunch and actually liked it! Salmon patties tonight for dinner. Hummus and deviled eggs for the bbqs this weekend. See - I'm hungry.

Happy 4th everyone!

  1. Do you like fresh salmon? If so, poach it and make it just like you would tuna salad - it's delicious.

It was 5-months out, about my 5th adjustment or so, before I was at the point with my band where I saw steady and significant weight loss. The physician will bring you to that point slowly for a reason - to make sure you can handle it - to make sure it's safe for you. Hang in there!

  2. I think if you are hungry, you should eat. Just try to stick to high-protein foods and keep your calories under control. In other words, don't eat a bunch of junk. I never really felt like I went through "Bandster Hell" and I think it was because I took a pretty pragmatic approach. I ate when I was hungry and stopped when I was full. I had some sweets and junk food, but 95% of my food choices were healthy. I also found that writing down my foods and protein was helpful at that stage.

Good luck! I know you can get through it. Keep posting!

  3. I felt hunger about week 4...I still try to eat about every 3 hours. Nothing big...just small meals/snacks.

My first fill is Weds. (the six week mark). My goal was to lose 25 lbs. total by the time I see the dr. You are doing great!

  4. I gained 5 pounds during Bandster Hell, so don't listen to me! :) Then again, I lost it all and much more, so the good advice I can give you is not to stress too much if you aren't losing during this time. Just keep doing what you're doing -- you are doing so well!
